PE Pathways curriculum overview

What it does

Building More Than Movement

Performance Pathways uses Physical Education as a vehicle for developing confident communicators, effective teammates, thoughtful decision-makers and resilient learners. Alongside physical literacy, every pathway intentionally develops the personal, social and cognitive skills students will use throughout school and beyond.

01

Effective Communication

Students learn to express ideas, listen actively and communicate with confidence in different situations.

02

Social Dynamics

Understanding teamwork, relationships, leadership and how to contribute positively within a group.

03

Tactical & Strategic Thinking

Learning to analyse situations, solve problems and make thoughtful decisions under pressure.

04

Emotional Well-being

Building resilience, self-awareness and a positive mindset to navigate challenges and manage emotions.

05

Physical Health

Developing fitness, movement competence and healthy habits that support an active lifestyle throughout life.

06

Character & Values

Embedding respect, integrity, perseverance, humility, accountability and fair play through everyday learning.

A curriculum designed to develop learners, not just deliver lessons.

  • 1

    Progressive learning

Learning builds progressively across every year group.

  • 2

    Holistic development

Physical, personal and social development are planned together.

  • 3

    Transferable skills

Every unit develops movement alongside transferable life skills.

  • 4

    Ready to teach

Resources, assessment and guidance are built into every lesson.

It's the first PE curriculum I've seen that treats progression seriously — and gives teachers the support to actually deliver it.
